Air Canada Cargo’s ground handling charges will rise in the new year due to what it said is inflationary and global cost pressures.
Effective Jan. 20, 2025, storage charges for cargo will be updated. For regular cargo, the minimum charge per shipment will increase to $75, while the daily minimum will rise to $25, with a rate of $0.40 per kilogram. Special handling cargo will see a higher minimum charge of $85 per shipment, $45 per day, and $0.60 per kilogram.
Storage policies will allow 48 hours of free storage for regular imported cargo, while special handling cargo, including perishables and live animals, will receive 24 hours of free storage. Export storage charges will apply if shipments are withheld beyond midnight of the day following receipt.
Other updated fees include $135 for shipments removed in bond or prepared for customs clearance. Dangerous goods charges range from $40 to $90, depending on the nature of the shipment. Additional fees apply for lithium battery checks, dry ice and shipments of high-value goods.
For the complete list of updated fees, visit the charges and fees page on the company’s website.
